The Job

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our team in São Paulo, Brazil. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of Brazilian accounting principles, tax regulations, and financial reporting standards. As a Senior Accountant, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our financial records, as well as contributing to the overall financial health of the organization.

We intend to become the first and largest distribution utility in Brazil and look for a highly motivated and driven talent to support the company’s ambitious growth targets!

 

You will be responsible fo

Financial Reporting:

  • Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Brazilian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (BR GAAP).
  • Ensure compliance with local statutory reporting requirements and coordinate with external auditors during annual audits.

General Ledger Management:

  • Manage the day-to-day bookkeeping and bank accounts for the legal entities and consortiums including record keeping, provision of information to our external accounting partner, cash flow requirements, and ensuring compliance with key deadlines.
  • Manage our external outsourced accounting partner to ensure payroll, tax, and reporting requirements are met in a timely manner.
  • Support wider financial accounting processes across the group such as month end close for different legal entities (journal entries, prepayments, accruals, balance sheet reconciliations).
  • Own the Accounts Payable process end to end globally, ensuring suppliers and employees are paid on time.
  • Perform reconciliations of bank accounts, general ledgers, and balance sheet accounts and investigate and resolve any discrepancies.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

  • Collaborate with finance and business teams to develop and monitor budgets and forecasts.
  • Analyze variances between actual results and budgeted/forecasted figures, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Maintain key management reporting dashboards such as reporting of cash across the group and the management profit and loss.

Process Improvement and Compliance:

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency gains within the finance and accounting functions.
  • Implement best practices to enhance the overall effectiveness of financial operations.
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial information.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, as well as regulatory requirements.

Cross-functional Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other departments, including but not limited to operations and legal, to provide financial expertise and support for strategic initiatives.
  • Facilitate and contribute to the talent acquisition processes for onboarding new members to the accounting team

REQUISITOS DA VAGA

We expect you to bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master's degree or professional certification (e.g., CRC, CFC) is a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Senior Accountant, Financial Controller or similar role, with a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Thorough understanding of Brazilian accounting standards and tax regulations.
  • Proficient in accounting software.
  • Advanced English (you’ll need it to write and speak daily with team members).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
